Cedar raised garden beds in Oakville, built in Bolton.
Cedar raised beds and planter boxes for lakeside lots with a longer season and deep older gardens.

What a Oakville yard asks of a raised bed.
Lake Ontario softens Oakville's spring and stretches its fall; Bronte and Old Oakville gardens see their last frost earlier and their first frost later than the lots north of the QEW. That extra fortnight at each end is worth a Deep bed: tomatoes and peppers ripen with time to spare.
The town is zone 7a on the 1991-2020 hardiness map, half a zone warmer than the 1961-1990 map. Oakville has no climate station with published frost normals, so the honest figures are the neighbours': Hamilton's Royal Botanical Gardens station, on the lake to the west, averaged a last frost of 21 April and a first frost of 16 October, and Pearson, inland to the east, 27 April and 20 October. Between the lake and the QEW, plan on the earlier of those in spring and the later in fall.
Older streets in Glen Abbey and River Oaks have deep lots with room for a pair of Wide 48 Deep beds, and the front entrances suit a planter box at seat height beside the door. The ravine lots along Sixteen Mile Creek run to shade, so being able to move a bed toward the light matters more here than on the newer streets north of Dundas.
