How we handle your details.

When you fill in a form on this site (contact, trade or dealer application) we collect the fields you type and nothing else. No hidden form fields, no fingerprinting.

When you place an order, we collect what an order needs: your name, email, phone number and, for delivery orders, your delivery address and postal code. That information goes into the order record and the confirmation email we send you.

When you visit any page, our server log records the URL, timestamp, browser user-agent, and approximate city derived from your IP address.

Card payments are processed by Helcim, our payment processor, inside their secure checkout. Your card number goes directly to Helcim and never touches our servers. We receive only a confirmation that the payment succeeded, the amount, and the last digits needed to reference the transaction.

The cart on this site lives in your own browser's storage, not in a tracking cookie. It never leaves your device until you check out.

We run Google Ads and Meta (Facebook and Instagram) ads to reach people looking for fence panels, and each has a measurement tag on this site: the Google tag and the Meta Pixel. If you arrive from one of our ads, the tag stores a first-party cookie so the platform can tell us the ad led to a visit, a cart or a purchase. The Meta Pixel also records the pages you view and the products you add to the cart. When you place an order we send Meta a copy of the purchase from our server with your email, phone number, name and delivery postal code converted to one-way hashes, so Meta can match the sale to the ad without receiving the plain text. We run no other analytics and no cross-site trackers of our own. You can opt out through Meta's ad preferences or your browser settings, and the site works fine with these tags blocked.

Messages you send us are read by the NorthStar team member whose desk the form is addressed to: sales, press or careers. Order confirmations and replies are sent through our Microsoft 365 business email.

We do not sell your data. Beyond the processors named above, Helcim for payments, Google and Meta for ad measurement, Microsoft for email, we share it only with regulators when required by law.

Contact-form submissions are kept only as long as needed to resolve the enquiry, unless the contact becomes a dealer or commercial customer, in which case the related records are retained for the life of the business relationship.

Order records are kept as long as Canadian tax law requires business records to be kept.

You can email hello@northstarbuildingproducts.com at any time to request a copy of the data we hold about you, or to delete it. We’ll respond within a reasonable time.
