About our cedar planters
NorthStar Building Products builds fence panels in Bolton, Ontario. The cedar raised garden beds and planter boxes are our second product line, cut and assembled in the same shop from the same Western Red Cedar.
Who builds them
We are 100% Canadian owned and operated. The shop is at 240 Ellwood Drive West in Bolton, and our cedar comes from British Columbia. The planters are built from the boards we work with every day and stand on powder-coated steel legs, with nothing treated, stained or sealed between the wood and your soil.
The first run is the Founding Batch, a pre-order: you reserve at the founding price with shipping across Canada included, we build the batch, and deliveries begin January 2027.

We build the batch in Bolton
Every planter is cut and assembled in our shop in Bolton, Ontario, from Western Red Cedar on powder-coated steel legs. The batch size is a ceiling, not a target: every order placed is built and shipped whether the batch fills or not.
Delivered January to February 2027
Deliveries begin January 2027. Every Founding Batch order is delivered by 28 February 2027.
The wood
Untreated Western Red Cedar from British Columbia, nominal 1x6, with a fabric liner between the soil and the boards. Nothing to leach, nothing to renew.
The assembly
Pre-drilled long boards bolt to end panels that ship with the steel corner brackets fitted. Designed for about ten minutes with the wrench in the box; we time the first units and print the number.
The height
Thirty inches on a raised bed is working height, twenty-four on a planter box is seat height. No kneeling, no bending, and the crop is at eye level when it is ready.
Our 3-year warranty
Three-year warranty on the structure and the steel legs, both grades. Knots, checks and silvering are the material, not defects; damage on arrival and defects are replaced at our cost.
- On arrival: damaged in transit? Photograph it within 48 hours and the part or the unit is replaced at our cost.
- Before it ships: Cancel any time before your order ships. Full refund within 15 days.
- Change of mind: 30 days after delivery, unused and in the carton, return shipping paid by you, the price refunded in full.
