Why we built it this way.
This is the metal privacy fence panel for an Ontario yard: a full-height face of 26-gauge black corrugated steel, set inside a pre-stained 2×4 wood frame and fastened flat in a jig at our Bolton shop, so it arrives square and hangs between posts at 96 in. on centre like every other panel we build. The steel face has no gaps and no sight lines, and the warm frame keeps a modern fence from reading like an industrial yard.
The steel is Canadian-made, and it carries the manufacturer’s limited 40-year warranty on the steel and its finish, with the documentation available on request. The frame and our workmanship are ours and are covered separately. We say which warranty covers what, because most metal-fence listings put one big number on the page and leave the rest to the fine print.
The steel face asks for nothing: hose it off. The frame is stained wood, not cedar, and like any stained lumber it will want a fresh coat on a many-years cycle. It does not rust in fence duty while the finish is whole, it is quiet in wind because the sheet is framed on all four sides, and it takes the same 10 ft pressure-treated 4×4 posts as a cedar panel, so a metal run can share a fence line with cedar or treated panels.
When it is in stock it is on the yard this week: order online, pick it up free the next business day, or take delivery within about 100 km of Bolton. There is no freight from another province and no made-to-order wait. Also offered with a diagonal lattice top. Matching gates and custom sizes on request.
